The investment environment in Asia Pacific has received much investor confidence for real estate investment going by the strength of such confidence emerging in this region. Amidst such investor confidence lies a strength challenge in the deployment of the investment capital. This strong investment confidence is from the poll conducted across top investor leaders from 37 global and regional investors regarding future strategic investment decisions for the year.
Investors’ plan is towards on increasing their real estate assets under management this year with the expectation of increase of volume to between USD178 billion and USD192 billion. Such investment volume in 2021 totalled US$177.3 billion. With a very keen competitive environment competing for assets, many acknowledged need for strategy which aims towards diversification. Much sought after strategies are the core-plus investment strategies and value-add strategies.
In terms of the type of deals, while direct deals and joint ventures will be the most active deal types, more investors will increase their focus on other deal types, such as platform/entity-level deals.
